Bill's Early Bronco build
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
ORI's on the hoops ,, I found some shock tabs on ebay allot cheaper than ballistic fab, blue torch and all those . Just some guy with a CNC selling them in his spare time , 1/4 thick 98 cents ,, good buy
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
Currie custom axles chromoly , I tried to make them equal length when I built the differential ,, I got lucky and they turned out equal.
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
Here is a pic of my front shock hoops with the tabs tact on , I know one would look at them and say " huh looks easy enough!" Well not for me ! Off camera on the garage floor is the 3rd shock hoop which was bent incorrectly by yours truly . Hopefully I can use it in another spot later on. That pipe is .188 wall DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) that means there is no seam which would make it weaker. It's $122 per stick (18-20ft) at Patton's which is about .40 cents cheaper per ft than B&B surplus. In the pic of Roberts jeep you can see that the shock mount pulled a proportionate chunk of 1/8 tubing right off the stinking thing . Robert has since changed out to .188 on both sides. Oh ,,, and you can see where the hoops are welded to the frame I put a piece of .188 flat steel to re-enforce the 1/8 cheapo factory Ford steel frame.

More of the roller ,,,, I expected at least the neighbors might come and congratulate me on my accomplishment, but no one showed ,,, I went into the house and told Marsha who was furiously poking her ipad with her right index finger I'm assuming it was some sort of a game, she said to me without looking up , that's nice honey, her tapping on the glass seemed to me to not have missed a beat. Multi-tasking seems to run in her family at least with those who possess the female genome. So I sat in my orange thinking chair with a smithwicks and contemplated my next big step. THE BODY

Getting closer! Can't wait to see it on the trail!
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
Ok the body is sitting on a 2 inch lift but I wanted about a 1 inch lift , the transfer case , (atlas) hits the large body support , so I would have to cut that brace out , not a big deal except I would rather not do it. Too much work.
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
The fender ,, front edge looks like I can live with the rear edge I will absolutely have to trim it. I have yet to articulate this thing to estimate how much fender I have to cut off but its coming soon.
Re: Bill's Early Bronco build
So the rear steer is definitely going to cause a wide opening , in the pic you see where the tire is hitting . I thought seriously about changing tire size but then thought better of it. I want to keep some of that big tire coolness. The other pic is just to look at.
