BAKERSFIELD TRAILBLAZERS MINUTES


DATE: 3-3-2021
PLACE: Zoom Meeting
Meeting was called to order by President Jeremy Rowell @ 7:04PM

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:
Guests attending the zoom meeting were: Lance Desbailets, Jack White, Liz Quick, Novelle, Paul, Shea & Kyle from American Off Road, Brandon, Adriana Dickerson.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion by Dave Hess, second by Ande the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected.

TRIP REPORTS:
2/21 Freeway Ridge, fixed the sign, ran the trail and moved a tree from the trail.
Ran into Bob Furness on lunch break. See new business.

Richard did not run KOH, he told the members 500 vehicles were inspected. He went back two weeks later for a run. It was quite an experience with the 50 mile an hour winds.
Richard told the members he finally got Kathy to spend a day in the dirt with him. There were a few problems along the way. Kathy was glad she went, but it was a once in a lifetime experience


TRIP REPORTS CONT:
Ryan went to Last Chance Canyon along with a couple of new people. Three went with new vehicles. V-notch was too much for some of the vehicles.

Rob reported another Panamint/Death Valley adventure in the books. Barker Ranch, Mengel Pass and Surprise Canyon. Trip was cut short due to a small tire puncture.

OLD BUSINESS:
Oceano Dunes open for day use only for street legal vehicles. Comment period to PWP is open until March 18th. Jeremy requested the members select one bullet point or two and comment on something you don’t like. CC Jeremy when you send in your comment. There is a rally Sunday March 14 @2pm just inside the Grand Ave Entrance at Oceano Dunes SVRA. The Coastal Commission meeting is 3/18/2021. Contact Jeremy if you are interested in making comments at the meeting. He will tell you how to register.

Calico, Prospectors Crawl is 4/10/2021. There are multiple runs and raffle on Saturday. This year is a challenging year due to Covid. There are 30 registrations so far. Late registrations will be accepted on site. We have the traditional bigger raffle items, but we could use some smaller raffle items also. Discussion followed with several suggestions.

When to return to in person meetings: Jeremy is going to look into the possibility of combining zoom meetings and in person meetings. He will contact Sr. Pepes about availability for the meeting. The members took a poll and decided that May would be a good month for the possible return of in person meetings.

CA4WD convention was held via zoom this year. Russ Chung was re-elected as the treasurer. Jon and Jeremy reported CA4WDC is moving in the right direction. They are taking steps to restore the NRC.

Donation to CA4WDC was tabled until this meeting. The original motion by Dave Hess, Second by Jon Aichele was for $1000.00 to be donated to the unrestricted funds. After a discussion Dave amended his motion to read $1500 to unrestricted funds. Jon Aichele second. Motion carried



NEW BUSINESS:
Bob Furness, Ranger for Sequoia, would like us to do some trail work on the Delonegha. Work party is set for 3/20/2021
