Sherman TRail Opening 6/3
My 2 girls and I Got to The Mesa Marin Chevron about 6:30. Jon A. and His G daughter Trina was there as was Gene. Joe Stocker and his son showed up a bit later. We cut out to the trail about 7am. My girls got car sick going through the canyon... good times! Hit the trail head about 9 and met the forest ranger. We hit down trees really quick, and they were pretty consistent throughout the day. With the limited amount of hands we had, it was slow going. Made it to the creek for lunch after 2pm (My girls were "starving to death") Made it to the 4 corners spot around 4 and took a left towards the mine. A bit after 5 we gave up on clearing that rd (near the end) and made for the end of the Sherman trail loop. Caught the other club there and made it to the rd at about 7:30. loaded my keep on the trailer and we made our way down. Stopped at the park for a bit to recover from another round of car sickness. Took the Girls to Mcdonalds in Lake Isebella for dinner (almost 9pm and again starving to death) Got home around 11. Long day!
Jon and Trina had our official Tree tally.
Jon and Trina had our official Tree tally.
Re: Sherman TRail Opening 6/3
It was a good trip, got a lot of work done. With the use of chain saws we removed 47 trees some which had to be cut 3 or 4 times to get them small enough that they could be rolled off the trail and removed 16 that were small enough to throw or roll off the trail without cutting. All I wanted when I got home was a shower and bed. Got home about 9:30.

You can see the smoke from the George fire. Luckily, we were above it!
