Midweek Run Black Gulch

Postby Richard Abruzzo » Sat Mar 15, 2014 1:31 pm

Black Gulch midweek run was so much fun. There were six rigs with drivers and passengers all eager for the day to begin. First of all the gates were closed. The day before the run, the gate for the bridge over the 178 was open, but the day of the run it was closed. The gate to Freeway Ridge was open so that was our access point to 4 wheeling. After the initial ascent we stopped for a breather. The adrenalin was running high and we all gathered for a confab. We were talking like a bunch of school girls who were just visited by Justin Bieber. We made our way to Black Gulch then took a trail north to find the Greenhorn Caverns making several stream crossings. We got lost for a while but were rewarded with the beauty of the mountains all greened up by recent rain and the freedom of not knowing exactly where you are. The challenge of the day was to find a way out past all the locked gates. We took Burke Hill Road (I think!), to Glenville recuperating in the Saddlesore Saloon. Great day!

That's awesome. All those closed gates suck! Glad it was a great run!
